Our Story

Le Bon Pain Bakery is a Haitian cuisine bakery based in Queens Village, New York. Owned by Jean George and Ghislaine Clervoix.

Le Bon Pain Bakery’s origin begins over 75 years ago. Ambroise Delamar Michel was mayor of the province Limbe, Haiti and grandfather to Ghislaine. In 1942, Le Bon Pain served the community with not only baked goods, but with fresh juices. Still today, Le Bon Pain is serving the public in Limbe.

As a child, Ghislaine began her tutelage under her grandfather Ambroise, better knows as “ Papa Broise “ Papa Broise’s family recipes inspired the first of many signature dishes served at Le Bon Pain. Ghislaine cherished her family’s secret recipes, but had a love for cooking so powerful, she traveled to the United States with hopes of sharing her traditions with the world.

With the dream of one day becoming a famous baker, Ghislaine worked hard in her younger years at Drake’s Cake Company as a executive chef where she gained the knowledge and experience needed to become a small business owner. Shortly thereafter, with the partnership and support of her husband, Jean George Clervoix. The two put their plan motion and opened the first Le Bon Pain Bakery in 1988 on Jamaica Ave in Queens Village, New York. A devoted minority of Haitian immigrants in their region established a loyal traditional following.

Le Bon Pain also distributes food and products to local retailers and the largest producer of Haitian Style baked products New York and considered the most famous Haitian bakery business in the United States. It is also the only company that makes and distributes various varieties of Haitian stye patties.

Today, over 25 years later, we proudly continue the standard of excellence. Ghislaine and Jean George Clervoix worked so hard to set. Keeping in line with their tradition, we devote great service in our community and beyond, satisfying our loyal customers where it all started

What drives us

Simply bringing the true taste of Haitian food to you.

  • Excellent bread and pastries. One of the best I have found in the NY NJ area. I bought the white and whole wheat loaves and they were absolutely delicious. They took me back to my childhood days in the islands. Both the chicken and herring pastries were to die for. Packed with flavor on a buttery and flaky crust.

  • Best Haitian patties I've come across in the city thus far.  Also, I love that you can purchase frozen boxes and they have vegetarian options. All my childhood food/snack all stars are found at this spot.

  • I've been coming here since I was a small child and it never fails me! I live in upstate NY (which is 5 hours away) but my entire family is from NYC, and every time I come down there I buy enough to take home and  freeze. Every flavor is amazing, and it's the best pate I've ever had. There isn't much filling in each patty these days...but honestly they are delicious
